On the morning of April 22, 2024, at 9:00 am, the "Research and Application of Tobacco Agricultural Machinery" technology project meeting organized by the Science and Technology Department of the National Tobacco Monopoly Administration was held in the conference room (C407) on the fourth floor of the new office building of the China Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Science. The project leader, General Manager Wu Yaodong of Yunma Agricultural Machinery Company, and a delegation of four people attended the meeting; At the same time, project leaders and experts from the Tobacco Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Nanjing Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and South China Agricultural University jointly attended the meeting.

This meeting is divided into two agenda items. The first agenda item is the project mobilization meeting, with Professor Chen Du from China Agricultural University, the engineering verification project team, giving a speech on the research content, implementation plan, and project management of the "unveiling and leading" project. The focus is on explaining the milestone engineering laboratory verification target tasks, and making specific arrangements for the evaluation of each year's verification plan.

The second agenda item of the meeting will be organized by the Science and Technology Department of the National Tobacco Monopoly Administration to enter the expert defense stage by the project hosting units. The expert group for the presentation and defense of Yunma Company is composed of 10 people, including Professor Mao Enrong from China Agricultural University, Researcher He Lihong from the Agricultural Mechanization Station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Professor Zhang Fugui from Guizhou University, and leaders of tobacco production areas in Yunnan, Hunan, and Guizhou. The expert group questions and provides suggestions on the implementation plan and technical implementation route of the project hosted by Yunma Company.

During the defense report, Mr. Wu stated that as the project leader, it is necessary to identify the innovative points of the project, fully consider the time limit for tobacco harvesting, set a good time difference, and carry out effectiveness verification of the harvesting machine from south to north, taking into account both tobacco harvesting and collection effects. If problems are found, they should be gradually resolved and improved, and the project results should be satisfactory to the industry and recognized by tobacco farmers.

It is reported that China National Tobacco Corporation plans to invest more than 110 million yuan in the research and application of tobacco agricultural machinery in 2024, focusing on solving the problem of mechanization in the harvesting and transplanting process, and improving the low level of tobacco agricultural mechanization in China. In response to this project, the company aims to overcome the key technology of fully automatic layered tobacco harvesting, develop a fully automatic layered harvesting machine in hilly and mountainous areas, and ultimately achieve engineering application.
